Places to visit

Diozidoux is a great base for discovering this lovely part of France. Close by are two swimming and fishing lakes.  Here's Ramade, ten minutes away, with its hide for bird watching.

And here's Meouze, 5 minutes away:
The little medieval town of Crocq is 15 minutes away.  You can have a very pleasant wander up its old streets, and get a fantastic view from the top of the tower:

Aubusson, a 40 minute drive, was the foremost town for tapestry weaving in medieval times, and there's a good museum showing old and new examples.

The Friday market at Felletin is a must.  This is the view from the top of the church tower:
An hour's drive into Correze will take you to Meymac:
Or you can head towards Mont Sancy, to La Bourboule and the start of the Dordogne.  This is a spa town where you can sign up for various treatments.

Then another ten minutes up the valley brings you to Le Mont Dore, where you can catch the cable car to get this view.  This is a ski resort in winter, popular with the French mostly, but during the rest of the year the area is excellent for walking.

Lac de Vassiviere, an hour's drive, has an island with indoor and outdoor modern art, beaches, a restaurant, and boat trips:

Ussel is also worth a visit:
Or you might just want to go for a walk in the woods nearby:
